This was a period where girls gained far more freedom. The type of clothes altered drastically. The hemline rose to the knee and ladies no longer had to put on the tight kind fitting corsets of their mother's generation. These new dresses had been made to be a great deal looser close to the hip and waist.
The initial flapper dresses were created with extremely plain fabrics, but it did not take long for very elaborate designs.
